You will never be completely at home again, because part of your heart will always be elsewhere. That is the price you pay for the richness of loving and knowing people in more than one place.

My research interests primarily focus on environmental linkages to conflict, with particular attention to natural resource management and environmental degradation. During 2013, I spent 10 months in the Mekong Delta completing field research for my dissertation with the support of grants from the U.S. State Department Fulbright Program and the University of Maryland’s Program for Society and the Environment.

• Academic Leadership and Policy: Associate Chair for Professional-Track Faculty in the Department of Government and Politics; former member of the University Senate, Faculty Affairs Commitee, and Senate Executive Committee

• Curriculum Design and Experiential Learning: Led workshops and designed innovative new programs to enhance student access and learning.
